Summer | Starlight Platter
As a photographer, ceramics artist, and a lover of the outdoors, I look to my surroundings for inspiration. This piece is inspired by a starry summer night on the Washington coast. I captured the photograph standing in the sand, under a dark sky, with the tide rolling in, and the Milky Way visible in the sky.
The underside is bare porcelain, finished smooth to the touch. To capture the moment in my ceramics, I chose a porcelain body and finished the top of the platter with ten layers of glaze to reflect not only the Milky Way, but the circular movement of the stars across the sky throughout the night.
The platter is 14.5” wide with a shallow depth of 3/4”. It is finished with food safe glazes. We do recommend that you hand wash your piece for longevity and lasting beauty.
